At the heart of the Gold Coast, Mātua Community Incorporated exists to honour, uplift and support our Pasifika elders. We are a faith-led, community-driven initiative created to bring our mātua (elders) together in love, connection, and purpose.
Many of our mātua have journeyed from across the Pacific, bringing with them deep cultural wisdom, strong values, and a rich legacy of resilience. But settling in a new land can come with challenges - isolation, disconnection from community, and the loss of identity.
Our mission is simple but powerful: to enhance the quality of life and wellbeing of our Pasifika seniors through service, creativity, and community. We believe that every elder deserves to be seen, heard, and celebrated.
Every fortnight, we gather for our mafutaga - a time to reconnect, to share meaningful talanoa, to laugh, sing, dance, play, and be reminded of our cultural roots and spiritual foundations. From fun games to arts and crafts, storytelling, gentle exercise and community lunches, our gatherings are always filled with warmth and joy.
We also hold special events like Fiafia Night, where mātua showcase their talents, songs, dances, and creativity to their families and the wider community. It’s our way of saying, "You are valued. You are treasured."
We are more than a program — we are a village. A family of elders and supporters walking together, making sure no one is left behind. At Mātua Community, we honour the past, celebrate the present, and plant seeds of joy and connection for generations to come.
